Counselling & Psychotherapy

There is beauty
in becoming
whole
again.

In Kintsugi, broken pottery is mended with gold, the cracks and imperfections become part of its beauty. In counselling, your story is no different. You don’t need to be fixed. You need space to heal.

About me

You deserve to feel safe and secure

Hi, I’m Shamim Azimi — a qualified counsellor trained to work with individuals and couples. I believe the moments we feel most broken are often where the deepest growth begins. My approach is warm, person-centred, and rooted in respect for your unique story. I use an integrative blend of CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care — woven together around what works for you.

I have a Masters of Counselling, Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, have worked with couples both young and old, and have experience assisting relationships both with minor problems and those on the brink of collapse. I want to help you collect the broken pieces of your lives, and use them to rebuild yourselves into something far better.

Common questions

Things you might be wondering

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

Unfortunately no, counsellors in Australia are not eligible to offer Medicare rebates

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone’s journey is different. Some find 6–8 sessions transformative; whereas others prefer longer-term support. We can work it out together, at your own pace.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes, absolutely. Confidentiality is central to the therapeutic relationship. The only exceptions are if there’s a serious risk of harm, and this is explained in full in your first session.

Can I have sessions online?

Yes, both online and phone are available, and work beautifully for most people. Healing doesn’t require you to be in any particular room.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a fee — this will be outlined in your client agreement before your first session.
